Jarunee's story
Jarunee grew up with limited opportunities and left school after the 6th grade to help her family with field labor.
After marrying and having a daughter, she became determined to create a different future for her child.
While her husband farms corn and rice, their income was unpredictable and often left the family struggling year to year.
Everything changed when Jarunee discovered hammock weaving. The ability to earn a steady, flexible income from home allowed her to make weaving her primary livelihood and step away from exhausting slash-and-burn field work.
Most importantly, her earnings now support her daughter’s education, including attendance at a regional boarding school that offers far greater opportunities.
