Choe
A loan of $1,725 helps to buy raw materials and grow her hammock weaving business.

Choe's story
Choe lives in a rural mountain region of Northern Thailand, where farming has long meant exhausting, unpredictable work under the sun. She and her husband have raised six children and, for most of her life, field labor was the only way to support her family.
Hammock weaving has changed that. What began as a way to earn a little extra income has grown into a dependable source of daily cash for household needs. Through her weaving, Choe has been able to cover expenses more reliably and purchase items that once felt out of reach, like a rice cooker and a mobile phone. Just as importantly, weaving has allowed her to contribute financially in ways that weren’t possible for many women in her generation.
Now, with years of experience and growing confidence as an artisan, Choe is working toward making hammock weaving her primary livelihood and reducing her dependence on slash-and-burn farming altogether.
With this loan, Choe will invest in yarn and materials to secure steady weaving work throughout the year, helping her build lasting stability for herself and her family.
