A loan of $3,275 helps a member to buy a variety of clothing as well as basic necessities.

Flores De Chujulimul Group's story
María, forty-seven years old, was widowed three years ago and is a mother of two children (ages 9 and 12). She is a very busy woman with four businesses. She sells a variety of clothing at five stalls in different markets. María has a second business raising free-range chickens, a year ago she opened a third business, a convenience store, and she runs a fourth business, weaving beautiful traditional blouses called "huipiles." She uses part of her income to pay for her children's primary education. The second Kiva loan that María is requesting will be used to invest in her larger businesses, such as the clothing sales and the convenience store. She will buy women's and men's underwear, sweaters, basic food items, and snacks.
María also presides over the Friendship Bridge "Flores de Chujulimul" Community Bank in a rural area of the Quiché department/state. The group includes six other Maya K'iche' women who have similar businesses to María's, including selling vegetables and making t-shirts.
These women participate in educational sessions, part of the "Microcredit Plus" program, which offers loans, education, and health services. The topics are essential to their success and include information on business, family, women's issues, and health. Every two months, they have access to basic health services, such as Pap smears, breast exams, blood pressure and glucose checks, among others.
Thank you all!
