Rosette's story

Rosette is 34 years old and lives in the town of Kawempe in the Kawempe region of Uganda. She is married and has no children.

For the past 3 years, Rosette has been working hard to manage her retail shop, which sells rice, posho, and beans. To help expand her business, Rosette has requested a loan of 3000000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more general merchandise for sale, and will help Rosette to generate greater profits and will be able to improve standards of living. Rosette hopes that in the future she will be able to buy land.

She is a member of BRAC's microfinance program which primarily serves small-group members like her, who do not have collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
