Gorret's story

Gorret is 30 years old and lives in the town of Kawempe in the Kawempe region of Uganda. She is married and has no children.

For the past 7 years, Gorret has been working hard to manage her beauty shop, which sells cosmetics. To help expand her business, Gorret has requested a loan of 4000000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more cosmetic items, and will help Gorret to generate greater profits and will be able to expand her business. Gorret hopes that in the future she will be able to construct a residential house.

She is a member of BRAC's microfinance program which primarily serves small-group members like her, who do not have collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
