I was raised in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, NYC in a one-bedroom apartment full of noise, love, culture, and a whole lot of life lessons. Growing up in a big Jamaican family taught me early what stress, survival, and unspoken emotional pain can look like — not because people didn’t care, but because no one had the tools or the access to support. That shaped me. It made me curious about healing, relationships, and why some people get the help they need while others fall through the cracks. It also gave me a huge heart and the drive to create the kind of support system I wish my family had years ago.

My entrepreneurial spirit showed up long before I ever called myself a business owner. I was always organizing, helping, finding solutions, and making something out of nothing. Later in life, after earning my double master’s degree and doing deep work in holistic psychology, spiritual counseling, and trauma-informed care, I knew I wanted to build something that made mental health support more accessible and more human. That calling became Kuumba Health LLC, doing business as Everyday Superheroes Wellness Coaching.

Today, with the support of Kiva, I run a practice with a growing team of dedicated part time providers. We serve people who are carrying a lot — trauma survivors, exhausted caregivers, burnt-out professionals, folks navigating identity, family stress, and real-life challenges. What keeps me going is watching people get their spark back, reconnect with themselves, and feel supported in ways they never have before.

My dream is simple: to keep expanding the kind of care that changes lives, to train future providers, and to make sure no one has to wait months to get help. This Kiva loan helps tourch and transform the lives of the next 100 people+ beyond, while providing jobs to skilled diverse therapists in need of part and ideally full time jobs, and I’m grateful to share that journey with you- with your support.
