Kashongi Ii Tukore Women Group's story

Joyce is a 63-year-old mother with 4 children. She is a widow who lives with one dependent who is not her child. All of her children have finished school.

Joyce lives in the rural area of western Uganda, and most people here are known for cattle keeping. Joyce has a poultry farm and also grows seasonal crops, beans, maize, bananas, and coffee for survival, selling the surplus to cater for her family. She is a hardworking and trustworthy person in her community since she is the chairperson of her group.

Joyce's hope is in getting a loan, which she will use to buy local chicken from farmers and sell it at a higher price during the incoming festive seasons. This is because the demand for chicken is higher in the coming months. She later wants to plant more coffee with her extra income.
