Ying

Ying is originally from a village near the border with Myanmar and later married into a community in a another province in Northern Thailand. Like many families in the area, she has faced limited opportunities as traditional farming becomes increasingly difficult to rely on.

A younger relative encouraged Ying to try weaving hammocks, and she recently completed her first few pieces. Although she is still early in her artisan journey and uncertain where weaving may lead, she has already seen the value of having a source of income she can build on from home.

Hammock weaving offers Ying flexibility, safety, and the chance to gradually create stability for her household. With this loan, she will invest in raw materials to continue practicing, gain confidence in her craft, and explore the possibilities that weaving may bring for her future.
