I believe my personal background is the compelling reason my business, Audible Cone Safety Products exists. My years as a police officer, often working on remote stretches of highway, gave me a firsthand and devastating perspective on the failures of antiquated roadside safety devices. I will never forget the day I spoke with a flagger named Glen at a landslide on a remote Oregon highway. We talked briefly about his day while surrounded by slow moving traffic navigating the longs lines of traffic cones funneling two lanes down to one. As I left in my patrol car, I chided him lightly: "don't get run over." Moments after I left, a young, distracted driver, moving at a low speed, simply drove right over a dozen traffic cones and struck Glen.

Glen, holding his stop/slow sign, never knew what hit him. While he lived, his life was forever altered, suffering permanent damage. I knew then that what I had just witnessed was not only tragic but entirely preventable. As I advanced through my career, I saw hundreds of similar crashes. But it was that first crash that left the lasting impact of seeing Glen’s life changed that fueled my passion. I knew I could help to stop these preventable, tragic crashes; they are senseless.

My entire effort is tied to correcting the systemic failure of those old, passive safety systems: simple orange traffic cones and vests, required by law but often ignored by drivers. This was my inspiration to build the Audible Cone safety system.

This difficult journey has required my team and I to overcome many challenging hurdles. Our efforts have been rewarded with achieving Patent Pending and Trademark status for the Audible Cone. I have since built a dedicated team of professionals whom I collaborate with daily to advance the Audible Cone toward becoming an icon and industry standard in roadside and construction area safety equipment. This high-tech barrier intrusion alert system casts a vital halo of protection around everyday blue-collar workers across our nation. These include students working summer jobs to experienced professionals. Distracted and impaired drivers are indiscriminate in who they injure, but the Audible Cone safety system ensures that these hardworking individuals can finish their shift and return home safely to their families.
