Mujeres Del Rincon Group
A loan of $5,050 helps a member to buy chickens, ingredients for her tamales, and kitchen utensils.

Mujeres Del Rincon Group's story
Thirty-two-year-old Ingrid is married to a coffee farmer, and they have a fourteen-year-old son who is in the eighth grade. She only has one year of formal education because her mother died, and she had to care for her siblings. Six years ago, she opened her business raising chickens and pigs that she sells from her home and occasionally in the local market. She had to close the business temporarily because she got sick, but now has reopened it. Ingrid is adding another business, making/selling her delicious tamales from her home in the department/state of San Marcos. She requests her first Kiva loan to buy chickens, ingredients for her tamales, and kitchen utensils. Her goal is to open a restaurant in a separate locale.
Being a member of a Friendship Bridge Trust Bank gives Ingrid and nine of her friends access to loans, as well as monthly educational training. Learning about effective business management practices helps them manage their convenience stores, sales of casual clothing/shoes, and animal husbandry businesses. Since they have little or no formal education, a Facilitator shares information with them (business, health, family, women) using pictures, diagrams, role-playing, and games. Recent topics have been about wise investment practices and savings.
Thank you, Kiva lenders, from the women in the “Mujeres del Rincon” Trust Bank!
