Sumaya
A loan of $1,150 helps to purchase more fashionable dresses, tops, and bottoms for resale.

Sumaya's story
Sumaya is 31 years old and lives in the town of Kiyinda in the Central region of Uganda. She is married and has 4 children, who are all currently in school. For the past 6 months, Sumaya has been working hard to manage her boutique, which sells all kinds of adult clothes, like dresses, tops, and bottoms.
To help expand her business, Sumaya has requested a loan of 4,000,000 UGX from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more fashionable dresses, tops, and bottoms for resale, and will help Sumaya generate greater profits and manage to provide some basic needs and food for her family. Sumaya hopes that in the future she will be able to become a powerful business woman and own a big shop in town.
She is a member of BRAC's microfinance program which primarily serves small-group members like her, who do not have collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
