Twaha's story

Twaha is 29 years old and lives in the town of Kiyinda in the Central region of Uganda. He is married and has four children, with three of them currently in school.

For the past 3 years, Twaha has been working hard to manage his barber salon, which does shaving and trimming hair. To help expand his business, Twaha has requested a loan of 4,800,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy essential equipment for the salon, like chairs, shampoo stations, hair shavers, and professional tools like scissors, clippers, and flat irons. This will help Twaha to generate greater profits and improve his family's standard of living by providing them with enough food and clothes. Twaha hopes that in the future he will be able to build rental units for a business.

Twaha is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Twaha who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
