Rose
A loan of $725 helps to purchase for more bananas (including matooke, commonly known as plantain, a staple), sweet potatoes and vegetables.

Rose's story
Rose is 61 years old and lives in the town of Kiyinda in the Central region of Uganda. She is married and has 6 children.
For the past 10 years, Rose has been working hard to manage her grocery store, which sells raw foods.
To help expand her business, Rose has requested a loan of 3,500,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase for more bananas (including matooke commonly known as plantain, a staple), sweet potatoes and vegetables to sell, and will help Rose to generate greater profits and manage to buy food for her family.
Rose hopes that in the future she will be able to expand her business more to a bigger food stall.
She is a member of BRAC's microfinance program which primarily serves small-group members like her, who do not have collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
