A loan of $15,000 helps scale a high-protein, all-natural chocolate spread business from small-batch to store-ready distribution.

Tiffany's story
I’m Tiffany, and like a lot of busy moms juggling work, community commitments, and staying healthy, I rely on quick, high-protein foods to keep me going. Clean ingredients and simple nutrition matter to me, and I wanted something that tasted great without compromising on what I put in my body. My friend and co-founder Cari brings a creative and systems-minded approach that complements my nonprofit work helping other entrepreneurs turn ideas into real opportunities.
My background in community development and entrepreneurship education naturally led me to approach Smudge like a problem-solving mission. I’ve spent years helping others turn ideas into ventures, and creating a product of my own felt like the next step in that journey. Living in a college town keeps me connected to students, families, and local makers who often share what they need and what’s missing in the market.
I’m motivated by the idea of building something that makes people’s lives easier and healthier without adding stress or complexity. Smudge started because I wanted something better for myself, and realizing it could help a lot of other busy people is what fuels my passion for growing this business.
