A loan of $4,000 helps a member to buy basic everyday products and more chickens to raise.

Bendicion De Vida Group's story
Ana is a 48 year-old entrepreneur who is married to a bus attendant. She has only one year of formal education because her parents lacked financial resources. Six years ago, she started her business selling portions of cut fruit. She sells as a street vendor and from her home in a community in the department/state of Totonicapan. She also has a convenience store where she sells basic essentials and other necessities. Ana also sells popular, delicious chocolate-covered fruit, a business she opened eight years ago. Ana requests her first Kiva loan to buy everyday items, snacks, beverages, and more chickens to raise. Her goals are to enlarge the businesses and generate more income.
Six women elected Ana to be President of their Friendship Bridge Trust Bank, “Bendicion de Vida” or “Blessing of Life”. These hard-working women sell fruit, backpacks, or colorful traditional blouses/”huipiles”. They benefit greatly from monthly educational trainings, part of the “Microcredit Plus” program which includes loans, education, and healthcare. Recent topics for the training have included business administration and avoiding the risks of over-indebtedness. Other topics include information about nutrition, hygiene, health, women’s issues, and family matters. Every other month, they have access to basic healthcare services (exams, consults, family planning).
Thank you, Kiva lenders, for making a real difference in the lives of Ana and her friends. You are very much appreciated!
