Bidhaa Sasa's story

Rural households in East Africa face significant challenges accessing clean water and modern cooking solutions. Bidhaa Sasa (“Products Now” in Swahili) is a women-focused last-mile distributor that provides water tanks and electric pressure cookers (EPCs) to low-income rural families in Kenya and Uganda through affordable installment plans paid via mobile money.

The company uses a proven group-lending model and offers end-to-end service—delivery, installation, warranties, and after-sales support—removing the logistical and financial barriers that typically prevent rural women from accessing these products.

Bidhaa Sasa has sold 5,200+ water tanks and 20,000+ EPCs, becoming the largest EPC distributor in Kenya. To date, it has reached over 60,000 rural customers, 70% of whom are women. An independent study by 60 Decibels found that three-quarters of customers report their lives have “very much improved” thanks to the company’s products.
