Emanuel Patanatic Group
A loan of $6,275 helps a member to buy typical fabrics, needles and threads at wholesale prices.

Emanuel Patanatic Group's story
There are many women who make rugs with recycled fabrics by using diverse techniques, such as crochet. Glendy (42 years old ) is one of these women who make this type of product.
She is a very hardworking woman who, together with her husband, looks for ways to earn money to support her family. Despite having finished her elementary education as an adult, Glendy works hard so that her eight children (8 to 25 years old) receive an elementary education.
Glendy participates in an organization that trains her to make rugs. She delivers one every month, which is sold abroad. She has had this business for six years.
In order to obtain additional income, Glendy also raises chickens. She is requesting her third Kiva loan to buy fabrics, needles, frames and a wooden table to work more comfortably.
The Friendship Bridge communal bank “Emanuel Patanatic” is located in the rural area of the state of Sololá. There are seven women who form the group. From these, five speak Spanish and two speak maya K’iche and Kaqchiquel. They want to invest the Kiva loan in their handicraft businesses, raising animals, corn tortilla stores, rental of furniture for parties,
In their monthly meetings, these women make payments of their loans and participate in educational training, part of the “Microcrédito Plus” program (loans, education, health).
Thanks!
