Justine's story

Justine is 35 years old and lives in the town of Makindye in the Central region of Uganda. She is married and has three children who are all currently in school.

For the past six years, Justine has been working hard to manage her boutique, which sells children's clothes.

To help expand her business, Justine has requested a loan of 2,500,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda, which will be used to buy more clothes and will help Justine to generate greater profits and improve her standard of living.

Justine hopes that in the future she will be able to construct a residential house. She is a member of BRAC's microfinance program, which primarily serves small-group members like Justine, who do not have collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
