A loan of $1,125 helped to buy piglets to raise for subsequent resale in her community.

Flavia's story

Mrs. Flavia A. López lives in a place called Miguel Hidalgo which is a municipality in Copainala in the state of Chiapas in Mexico. She’s married to Mr. Marcial Estrada Vázquez with whom she’s had three children who are in her care. They are: Omar, 20, Cecilia, 15 and the youngest, Ermisenda, 10.

The loan she requested is to invest in the purchase of piglets to fatten up and sell butchered in the same locality. She’s been in this business for nine years and 8 months and she commented to us that she does well and it has produced good income.

She and her husband started this business to earn income and, although Marcial works in the fields planting corn, she also wants to contribute so that together they can raise their small family.

Her greatest wish is that, with God’s blessings, she will continue working in order to have savings so that her children can stay in school and manage to finish a career.
