A loan of $250 helped to buy fertilizers, pesticides, and gasoline to support her rice field.

Srey's story

Mrs. Srey A., born in 1968, lives in Kokir Thum village in Kandal Province, where she owns a plot of land upon which she grows rice. Srey would like to grow rice during the dry season but lacks sufficient funds to do so. She is therefore requesting a loan to buy fertilizers, pesticides, and gasoline to support her rice field.

Srey supplements her living by making Khmer cakes for sale. Her husband, Mr. Norng Sophat, is a laborer who is able to earn a small salary to help support his family, and also helps in his wife's farming.

This couple has four children, three attending the local school, while the youngest is only four years old. Srey's husband is shown in the picture with her.
