A loan helped a women-owned business with early-stage startup expenses.

Rebecka's story

For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to run my own business. Up until now, either my circumstances were ideal, but my motivation was lacking or my motivation was high, but the circumstances less than desirable. Being home-bound during the pandemic opened a window of opportunity for me to put both motivation and circumstances to good use.

My passion for sewing started as a hobby. At 10 years old, my aunt taught me how to sew a blue jean vest as a craft project. Later, at 15, I took sewing lessons at a local Chicago Park community center. Before I knew it, I was sewing everything from dresses to coats. As an adult, I've also enjoyed freelancing as a web designer from time to time. Working with my hands and solving problems has been a natural and welcoming theme in my life. Combining these two things, resulted in my desire to create a niche on-demand gig marketplace for custom-made clothes and clothing services.
