A loan helped me open a beauty supply store in an area where Black and Hispanics are underrepresented.

Dinee's story

I have always been a beauty enthusiast spending hours in Beauty Supply stores. Most of the time it is a very unwelcoming environment due to owners not trusting their customers. Since they do not trust the consumers they target I'm constantly being followed around and watched which is very frustrating. I decided not to complain about the problem and become the solution.

For years I dreamed of opening an upscale beauty supply store, but it was unrealistic since I had to work full-time to provide for my children. Once the pandemic came I was released from my position as an office manager and felt that I finally needed to get my business started. After years of doing some of my basic research, I started buying products eventually launching my online store in November of 2020.

I have 3 children that motivate me, I was never in a position where I could explore my dreams. Since the age of 14, I have been working to help my mother and provide for myself. I've always had multiple jobs and could never take the chance to decide what truly makes me happy until I started working as a manager for a start-up company. This is when I knew I loved building brands and watching everything unfold in real-time. I also loved that it was fast-paced and I was able to make most of my own decisions because the founders trusted me to build my brand in my market. If I could help make that business successful, I know I could be just as successful with a little help from you.

This loan is special because:

It supports a Black female entrepreneur in expanding their business.
