A loan helped an African American woman to keep production.

Wanda's story

I’m a true native of San Francisco (never called it Frisco).

Raised between the Haight Ashbury and the Fillmore. My childhood was surrounded by Black-owned businesses. When I reached 15 years old I was working at Pierce’s Ice Cream, where Miss Louise made her own ice cream. At 16, I was working at Sultan’s BBQ pit – Mr. Jackson’s wood-smoked meats. These two businesses fueled my entrepreneurial spirit.

Today, I’m the owner of Wanda’s Cooking LLC. So many memories of the dedication of Mr. Jackson and Miss Louise to their business, community, and family.

My dream is to have Wanda’s Cooking walk in the legacy I received from my first entrepreneur mentors.

This loan is special because:

It supports a female entrepreneur in expanding their business.
