A loan of $175 helped to purchase a solar energy home system to have a healthier energy source, improve her family's well-being, and to benefit economically.

Edelmira's story

Edelmira is an owner of a local business in the small town in the state of Guerrero. During the days, she makes her living by taking care of her grocery store. When she goes home at night, she has to take care of the housework, which includes making dinner for her children and making sure that the house is clean. She also has to take care of all the accounting from the store in order to be able to keep it running.

Currently Edelmira counts on an electric installation in order to get some light during the night and be able to perform her activities. In the state of Guerrero, in a small rural town, electricity coverage is terrible so there are many times where they spend a lot of days without any electricity and also it is very expensive to keep up with the bills.

With an solar energy home system, Edelmira would be able to save money and be able to have good lighting constantly.

This loan is special because:

It will provide solar power to remote communities in Mexico--electricity for the very first time!
