A loan helped purchase an ironing table, Iron box and add threads for my tailoring.

Wilfred's story

I grew up in Ol Kalou in Nyandarua and attended my primary school, after which I was unable to proceed to secondary school. My parents were unable to carter for my secondary education. I therefore began to fend for myself at a tender age making things such as repairing shoes, clothes, etc in order to make my life worth a living. I later got married and now have 2 children who rely on me. As a family, we have learnt tailoring and we do it as a business, we have moved from town to town and the challenge is the same- the capital to purchase a sewing machine of our own and do the business as ours, we therefore have been relying on being employed to use other people's sewing machines and we get a small fee at the end of the day. However, we do a lot of work sewing the clothes especially repairs from our own house, and as such we have been able to raise some good savings which we hope to use to purchase a sewing machine soon. I am a determined husband who wants a better life for my family
