Channa's story

Channa, age 21, lives with her family in the area of the Angkor Borei district, in Takeo province. She earns a living operating a small convenience shop in her community, offering many types of products, including groceries, snack foods, sweets, powders, canned food, noodles and miscellaneous household items. Channa and her spouse each help to earn the household income, so that they can pay for food, medicines, education and basic living needs.

Because of a shortage in her finances, Channa has applied for a loan in the amount of 2,000 USD to pay for renovations. This loan will allow her to pay for construction supplies as well for labor costs. Having a strong personal home is a source of pride, safety, comfort and dignity in society. Home is a place to spend time with a beloved family. The advantage of a new roof is to help protect them when it rains and storms, keep the ceilings clean and provide comfortable living.

Thanks to the Kiva lenders for their role in the comprehensive development of women like Channa who want to reduce poverty for their families. Her profits enable her to increase her savings and take care of her needs and those of her children.
