Mrs. Sokha Meas Village Bank Group's story

In Kdol village, Takeo province, sixteen people make up this village bank loan. They have selected Mrs. Sokha M., who was born in 1961, as the village bank president. The members will use their portions of the loan in varied ways to support their businesses. Mrs. Sokha M. is a farmer who owns a half-hectare (1.25-acre) plot of land that she uses to cultivate rice to sell to support her family. Her husband, Mr. Vannat Chea, is a cow middleman. Since her husband’s business is going well Mrs. Sokha M. wants to expand it. So, to improve this business, she is applying for a loan to enable him to buy more cows to sell. Mrs. Sokha M. is the mother of three children, one of whom is a seamstress in a garment factory, while the others are attending the local public school.
