Kiva loan repayments begin one month after your loan gets disbursed into your bank account. Your monthly payment amount will be the amount agreed upon when you were approved for the loan. There is no grace period for a Kiva loan.
A few days before each loan repayment is due, you'll receive a reminder with a link and instructions to make your payment.
You can also send a repayment at any time by taking the following steps:
Log into your PayPal Account
Select "request or pay money" then and "Send money to friends and family"
Enter the Kiva PayPal address: firstname.lastname@example.org
Enter your payment amount
Review the transaction and select "Send Money Now"
Kiva repayments impact your business credit, so be sure to make all of your repayments on time! It will help your business credit grow.
You can sign up for automatic repayments so you never miss a payment at www.kiva.org/my/borrower/auto-repayments. Just make sure your bank account always has enough to cover your next payment. You can learn more about automatic repayments here.
Borrowers who repay their Kiva loans on-time pre-qualify for 2x their loan amount, up to $10,000.
What if I’m having trouble paying back my Kiva loan?
Kiva is understands running a small business comes with a lot of uncertainty that could make it difficult to make all payments on time. Therefore, it's important that you let us know as soon as possible if your payment is going to be late and get on a repayment plan if you're behind on repayments. Email the Kiva team member you have been in contact with, your Lead if you have one, or email@example.com. Remember Kiva wants you to succeed as much as you do!
Also let your lenders know what is going on by sending them an update. They’re the ones who believe in you and supported you financially, and they want to know how you are doing.
If there is a Lead near you, you can reach out to them to learn about any local organizations that may be able to help.
Kiva loan repayments through PayPal
We only accept payments via PayPal. All borrowers need to create a PayPal account that is connected with their bank account in order to make payments. If you need to change your PayPal account, you can email the Kiva team member who has been assisting you, your Lead if you have one, or firstname.lastname@example.org to update your PayPal information.
