YAMIDA is a local foundation focused on building the institutional capacity of MFIs using the Grameen model to reduce poverty in Indonesia. It provides technical assistance, training, research, and consultancy. A fairly young foundation, it established its first branch in Aceh in September 2005. Outreach: Since September 2005, YAMIDA has opened 74 centers in 22 villages and is operating in the tsunami-affected sub-districts of Baitussalam, Darussalam, Ingin Jaya, and Kling Barona Jaya. As of August 2007, YAMIDA had 1,994 members. Grameen Foundation support: Grameen Foundation has provided $200,000 in funding since September 2005; $160,000 as zero percent loans to clients; a $35,000 grant for operating expenses; and approximately $5,000 in in-kind donations of computers and office equipment. Grameen Foundation is providing on-site technical assistance as well as assistance with implementing a management information system.
