Kiva Lending Team: Temporary Bulletin Board
We loan because...
Once upon a time there was a kindergarten with a highway running next to it.
There was no fence between the kindergarten playground and the highway. The kindergarten management
had a doctrine that getting hit by a car or seeing other children getting hit by car taught the children a valuable lesson.
So the teachers didn't and were not even allowed to warn the kids about the cars and the traffic.
It seems that the kindergarten management wasn't very fond of children, but it was cool to manage a kindergarten.
Once upon a time there was a hospital doing a hundred heart surgeries a month. Almost all surgeries were successful, very rarely a patient died. Then the hospital decided that the hospital could do more operations. The target was set to 110 surgeries a month. The doctors protested but the management didn't listen. And so 110 operations were made, nine patients died every month but 101 operations were successful.
The hospital management was happy about this increase in successful operations, doctors and the families were sad about the dead patients.
It seems that the hospital management wasn't very fond of patients or their families, but it was cool to manage a hospital.
Once upon a time there was a bakery making donuts. 110 donuts were made every day, 100 of them were bought.
Ten donuts a day were thrown away.
It seems that the bakery management wasn't very fond of donuts, but it was cool to manage a bakery.
