Kiva Lending Team: Martha Stancil DeBoer Memorial
We loan because...
Martha (or Bucka as she was referred to by her grandchildren) believed in helping others. This memorial page is just one small way her friends, family, loved ones, and anyone inspired by her spirit can spread the same kindness and generosity.
Martha Jasper Stancil was born in the Blue Ridge Mountains near Toccoa, Georgia. Daughter of A.L. Stancil and Lucy Mae Hembre, she was the ninth of twelve children and a mother of three, grandmother to five, and a great grandmother. She became a successful real estate broker in the 1960's, opening the door for women in that field. She sold and rented to military families on Cape Cod, MA as her husband was actively serving. She was outgoing, kind, generous, and always saw the beauty in others. Martha was also proud of her southern heritage and was known by many for her beautiful hats.
We are Martha's friends, family, and community who are inspired by her life, and the kindness and love she showed others everyday.
We believe that lending through Kiva will help empower women across the globe in realizing their dreams.
Bucka - you will always be our sunshine and we will forever carry you in our hearts.
