It helps. 12 years ago I never thought I would have made 350+ loans. It's wonderful that money I can share comes back to be re-lent to help others. Kiva has also been a great custodian of my privacy. My details are sacrosanct and my email or information has not been shared with any third parties in 12 years. Most charitable institutions treat you like a dollar sign sharing details with other charities, this non-profit has always been honorable.
