Kiva Lender Jeff
Orlando, Florida, United States
I first learned about Kiva in Bill Clinton's book Giving back in 2007. I started my Kiva profile shortly after an was really interested in helping folks in third world countries with funds in education and green or energy related projects. I believe my first loan was for someone starting and organic farm. Flash forward to 2014, I joined the non-profit organization SELF (www.solarenergyloanfund.org) which is a Florida community lending institution focused on helping working class families gain access to funds needed to make much needed home improvements. Many, home improvements are related to energy efficiency, lighting, A/C replacements, and water heaters. SELF even funds roofing replacements and repairs that are so needed in the community. SELF became a Kiva Field partner in October 2014 and I personally helped over 30 single women and veterans get posted and funded on Kiva. Most of the funders were not from Florida or even the U.S. which bothered me why cant our local community get involved to help a neighbor in desperate times. so I started #impactlending
