The best answer I've seen for this is the man who said "Because I can." Travel reminds me how wealthy we lucky few are compared to so many people in developing countries. It's a time in my life (retirement) to "do something." This is an amazing concept in action. Brilliantly simple and incredibly powerful.

I worked many years in natural resource management with the Alaska Department of Natural Resources. For the last 15 years I worked with Alaska Native Corporations on land planning projects.
