The market is the most efficient way to sustainably improve the lives of the working poor. Societal wealth venturing creates a virtuous cycle of sustainable profits, employment, economic growth, and increased government resources through increased taxable income. Rather than aid, which treats symptoms instead of problems and thus must be given again and again, the same money loaned on sites like Kiva can be reinvested indefinitely. Furthermore, each time it is invested, it can have a long-lasting and transformative impact on entrepreneurs and communities.
