I loan because:
I no longer loan, I am opposed to Kiva's late 2019 change to default inactive accounts to 'auto-loan' to put 'idle money back to work' - I think this is a bad practice and violates the trust those people have put in Kiva that their money will be loaned as they choose and will be available for withdrawal if not loaned.
