UPDATE: Due to the recent tragedy in Haiti, Gene's daughters have decided to withdraw 60% of the group funds to help send relief to the people of Haiti. Because of Gene's compassion for the innocence of children, his daughters have chosen Save the Children to receive this charitable donation. The girls have also decided to matched the funds withdrawn from Kiva to make a total donation of $1,600. Gene's daughters will continue loaning funds through Kiva .org indefinitely and hope to rebuild and grow the account in the near future.
About me:
Save the Children is not only providing and distributing the basics to the people and children of Haiti, they are setting up Child Friendly Spaces planned for shelters and camps housing earthquake victims. These safe spaces protect children and give them a place to play and recover from the suffering they have endured and witnessed.
