A loan of $825 helped buy fabric, thread, buttons, zippers, lace, etc.

Marlene's story

Marlene belongs to the “Manos Unidas” community bank. She lives in the Jr. Amazonas N° 722 in the Banda de Shilcayo district in the department of San Martín. She is 45, married, and has 3 children. Only one is a dependent.

Using her own initiate, the support of her husband, and the first loan of 300,000 PEN, she started her business of making clothes.

With the loan of 2,500 PEN, which she will repay in 6 months, she wants to buy fabric, thread, buttons, zippers, lace, and elastic to make different style clothes for every occasion for women, men and children.

Both she and her husband make the decisions about the earnings from her business. Personally, she feels more independent, secure and capable.

Marlene would like to thank Manuela Ramos for letting her grow as an entrepreneur and as a woman.
