HUANCAYO, Peru / Grocery Store

A loan of $875 helped stock merchandise.

Marleny's story

Marleny is 29 years old, and lives in her own house with her husband and three children. Three years ago she set up a store in her house where she sells basic goods, and all of the items her neighbors and customers rely on her to supply. Marleny and her whole family participate in the business, which is one of the major sources of income for their household. In addition, together with her husband she works in the fields; also having this store allows her to earn extra money to provide her children with a good education.

In the future, Marleny and her family are considering adding products in addition to groceries, in order to meet her customers' needs.

This is Marleny's ninth loan with MFP and she is very happy to rejoin her community bank. She hopes to continue working with this group, and as such as taken on the role of treasurer for this credit cycle.

The money she is currently requesting will be used to purchase more merchandise to better stock her store with pasta and dried beans, as well as school supplies for the school year.
