Joana's story

Joana A. is twenty-eight years old. She is married and has three children who are all still in school. They are all in the basic school. She lives with her children and husband in a rented apartment in a fishing community called Aquase, near Cape Coast in the Central Region of Ghana.

Joana works hard to make some income to help her husband in providing for the family. She is a trader. She deals in provisions such as milk, sugar, candies, bread, etc. Joana procures the goods from the wholesale dealers in the regional capital, Cape Coast, and sells in her community. She says she owns the shop in which she sells her groceries. She has been in business for eight years and wants a loan for more goods to stock her shop.
