A loan helped a member to purchase organic fertilizers, manures, and straws for land preparation.

Janamati's Group's story

The lady standing in a red saree to the left in the photograph is Janamati, from a small village of Koraput district, Odisha, India. She is a mother of a infant and is the wife of a daily laborer who struggles hard to meet the needs of his family.

Janamati has never lost her hope despite her poverty-stricken situation. In order to reduce the burden of her husband and supplement her household income, Janamati started earning three years ago. She is currently engaged in mushroom cultivation. She emphasized cultivating mushrooms because mushrooms can be grown on nearly any type of agricultural and forestall residue. They are an ideal crop for rural areas with large amounts of cultivated hectares and residue from field crops.

Janamati and her group member are requesting a loan amount of 30,000 INR from Kiva's partner Peoples Forum. She will use her portion of the loan amount to purchase organic fertilizers, manures, and straws for land preparation in bulk so as to have a high-quality and voluminous amount of output, which will fetch her a higher price on selling.

Janamati is eagerly awaiting for your kind help and support.
