The “Lumiere Celeste” or “Heavenly Light” Group is a made of twenty-five male and female entrepreneurs. After successfully repaying their 1st and 2nd loans, they are looking forward to continued success and growth in their businesses with this loan.

Their businesses are very diverse. They range from selling and repairing motorcycles to a bakery and many others in between.

J. J. is the representative of the group. This hard-working young man sells motorcycles. He buys the motorcycles in the Dominican Republic to re-sell in Haiti. He sells in various locations depending on the customer and has an ever-growing client base in multiple cities across northern Haiti. He has one person who works with him who repairs motorcycles as well.

J. is grateful for the increased profits from his business because they have allowed him to purchase chickens and goats, and help family members when they’re ill. He dreams of expanding the business to employ multiple people and earn enough to build a house and eventually get married.

On behalf of J., Lumiere Celeste, and Esperanza we thank you for your support!

Additional Information

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
