A loan of $250 helped soda, Chips depot.

Sophie Apiyo's story

Sophie Apiyo O. is a 28-year-old mother of two children, aged 5 and 3. Both are in school. She lives in the Manyatta slum where she sells food purchased wholesale from Kibuye market in downtown Kisumu. She is asking for a loan of 20,000 KSH and hopes to use it to open a depot for soda and chips. Because she has been selling food for so long, she wanted a change of pace. She wants KIVA lenders to know that she loves the work that K-MET does and hopes they continue to assist women who want to open businesses. She says one of the great benefits is that they send their children to school.
