A loan of $325 helped purchase of sewing materials.

Nelly's story

Nelly is 51 years olds and lives with her husband Juan Carlos, 50 years old, and their four children Maria, 28, Jessica, 26, Denise, 23, and Juan Daniel, 11, in their own house. She has been a seamstress since she was 20 years old, working in clothing assembly workshops. Upon retirement she decided to start her own workshop in her house. In the 6 years since then, her business has been very profitable and has brought in a lot of income to her household.

Nelly has always enjoyed sewing, because she enjoys making clothes, curtains, bedspreads, sheets, etc. She puts a lot of dedication and care into each piece of work, trying to produce a good finished product. For this reason her clientele is increasing, because people are very happy with the products that they order from her. This has not been an easy job, because she has to be very detailed and she sometimes has problems with the sewing machine, which breaks down from time to time. Also, her eyesight is not as good as it was before. Still, Nelly is very hardworking and she hopes to continue working to improve her workshop and increase her income even more.

This is her first loan from MFP and she promises to be very punctual with her payments. She belongs to the group "El buen porvenir de San Felipe" ("The good future of St. Philip"). With the requested money she will buy more material and thread of all varieties and colors to make her products even more eye-catching.
