A loan of $725 helped to buy baking materials like bags of flour, sugar, margarine, yeast and firewood.

Kate's story

Kate A. is 41 years old. She is a married woman with six children. Her first-born is still in the senior high school and the rest are still in school. She lives at Elmina in the central region of Ghana. Her husband is a taxi driver and has driven for more than three years.

For the past 7 years she is been baking and preparing pastries like chips, cake, doughnuts, etc. She bakes bread and other pastries and supplies them to the villages around her and also sells some through hawking. Demand for the pastries has increased as a result of her having a constant supply and just-in-time delivery. Her customers book their order in advance and before they arrive, their order is ready. She says that the price of commodities is increasing, which is making it difficult to buy more raw materials from the market.

Kate needs the loan to buy more bags of flour, sugar, margarine, milk and firewood to restock her inventory. She said your assistance would be much welcome and helpful to her. Kate belongs to a village bank called ‘Yehyebre,’ which means Destiny.
