A loan of $575 helped buy a motor and maintance of moto taxi.

Lourdes's story

Lourdes R. R. belongs to the Atenas Portillanas community bank. She lives at Psje. Alamo Mz. 186 Lt. in the Yarinacocha district. She is 48, has 5 children, and her husband works in civil construction.

About 4 or 5 years ago she started raising chickens. The first loan she received from Manuela Ramos was for 300 PEN, and this financed the care of the chickens. With time, dedication and effort she was able to manage raising a thousand chickens. Sadly, in 2007 the price of chickens fell so much that she was forced to close her business. She then started a “mototaxi” for rent business. The business grew, and she now has 2 “mototaxis”. With this loan of 1,800 PEN she would be able to buy a motor and do maintenance on the other “mototaxi”.

She says: “Manuela Ramos has helped me so much, thanks to ONG, I am supporting my children as they study at the university, it has made it possible for me to keep going with the mototaxis when they need repair or maintenance.”
