Jose's story

Jose E. Chavez Batz is originally from the community of Juchanep, eight kilometers from the city of Totonicapan. In his community, he is known as Chepito. Since his childhood, he learned the art of weaving through the 80s and 90s. The western plateau is well known for the work put into this weaving. Today, Jose is fighting to keep his art and to generate new designs to be able to survive in the artisan market. He visited the Asdir offices to request a loan, which he will use to purchase materials for a new partner and thus improve the quality of life for his family.
