A loan of $700 helped working Capital.

Maria Estela's story

María T. is 26 years old, married, and works as a merchant. “I purchase and sell traditional clothing for women,” she explains. She lives with her husband (who is also a merchant) and their son. For 4 years now María has run her business out of her home in Paraje Chuimenchú, in the Poxlajuj district of Totonicapán Department, Guatemala. These days her clientele's demand is increasing, but she is finding that she cannot increase her capital due to the current economic conditions. It is for this reason that María has requested a loan from the ASDIR Association (a local Kiva partner). She plans to use the loan to purchase more merchandise and thus to increase her sales. María hopes to be able to support her son and improve her family’s quality of life.
