Joshua's story

Joshua O. is forty-five years old. He is married and has six children, two sons and four daughters. Some of his children are in the junior high and the basic school. Others have apprenticeships. His wife is a trader and he is also a commercial driver and trader. He lives with his wife and children in a rented apartment in Mampong in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.

Joshua trades in food, such as maize, yams, etc. He buys bags of maize and tubers of yams from farmers in the nearby villages and then supplies the food to food vendors in his community. Joshua also distributes to retailers. At times, he also resorts to selling fruit, such as watermelon.

He has been in business for ten years and wants a loan to buy food in bulk so that he is able to supply to more customers. Joshua hopes to make more income so he can have his own apartment.
