A loan helped a member to buy up-to-date clothing, commonly known as madila, to meet her customers' needs.

Mchicha Group's story

Mariam is a widow in her late 50s who has five children, two of whom are still in school. The other three children are grown up. She has been selling clothes, especially madila, for thirteen years. She works from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm daily and is able to make a small profit each month.

This will be Mariam's 19th loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. She used the previous loans to improve her business by increasing her stock of clothing. She is doing great with the loan and appreciates Kiva for the support of their group. She used the profit to pay school fees for her two kids, reinvest in her business, renovate her house, repay the loan, and cover household expenses. She will use this loan to buy up-to-date clothing, commonly known as madila, to meet her customers' needs. Mariam dreams of opening up a clothing shop in a different area.

Mariam will share this loan with her loan group Mchicha, which consists of four members who will hold one another accountable for paying back the loan.

In this group: Mariam, Amina, Amina, Daud
